Chapter Four: Amor Vincit Omnia

Chara sits opposite to Sans at the candlelit table, their silver locket dangling from their choker gleaming in the candlelight. Them still wearing the clothes they borrowed from Papyrus, while Sans remains wearing his usual outfit, far from the “fancy” atmosphere this place carries.

“You know,” Chara speaks up, twirling their dinner knife between their fingers, “I was honestly surprised that you made your move first, even if it was just a compliment.” They comment.

Sans leans back in the chair, lazily. “to be honest, i was too.” He says with a half-laugh, “the words kinda just fell outta my fuckin mouth.”

Chara slouches their shoulders, “Oh, so you didn’t mean it?” They say in a long drawn out, disappointed tone.

“what? no! i meant it! y- you look great!” Sans shoots back, in an almost panicked tone, “it was just-”

Chara cuts him off with a quiet laugh, “I know, darling. I’m just messing with you.” They say with a cordial smile, “don’t worry.”

Sans sighs frustrated, “oh, you bitch, i shoulda known.” He replies jokingly.

Chara rests their elbow on the table, propping up their head with their fist, their red eyes looking over Sans adoringly; Sans mimics them, his red, glowing eye doing the same.

Chara perks up at the noise of their waiter approaching.

“Good evening. Welcome to the MTT diner, what can I get for you to drink.” He says, holding a pad of paper and a pen in his hands.

Sans sits up, “a beer for me.” He says.

“I’ll just take water, please.” Chara asks.

The waiter writes down their orders, “Alright, those will be on their way.” He says before walking off.

“Thank you.” Chara responds, as the man walks off.

Sans chuckles to himself, “really? not even gonna get alcohol?” He asks, in a fake-mocking tone.

Chara rolls their eyes, leaning back in their chair. “Alcohol doesn’t even work for me, my immune system terminates it immediately.” They say.

“well ain’t that unfortunate?” Sans asks, “from what it sounds like, you need it more than i do.” He adds.

Chara chuckles, “You’re telling me.” They respond jokingly, “but in all reality I manage fine without it.”

“oh, yeah. you’re a fuckin lunatic, i forgot.” Sans replies, jokingly.

Chara laughs, “You’re not entirely wrong.” They respond.

Sans taps the table repeatedly thinking of what to say next. “say…” he begins, leaning in closer to Chara, “what exactly do you like about me?” He asks.

Chara smiles, holding out their hand, “Well: you’re funny; you're extremely intelligent; you’re attractive; and most importantly, you’re powerful and an excellent fighter.” They reply, counting off each thing listed on their fingers. “What more could I want in a man?” They ask, leaning in as well.

“fair enough i guess,” Sans responds, matching their smile, “but to me…” he begins, “it sounds like you just want a man who can beat your ass into a pulp.” He comments, half joking.

Chara laughs hard, covering their face with their palm. “To put it bluntly, yes.” They reply.

The waiter returns with their drinks, placing them on the table. “So what can I get for you two tonight?” He asks.

“just a burger” Sans says.

“I’ll have pasta, please.” Chara asks.

The waiter, once again writes down their order, and leaves.

“alright, it’s been on my mind for a while.” Sans begins, “you said that you never really had loyalty to your father or king. elaborate on that.” Sans asks, leaning back in his chair.

Chara rests a finger on their chin. “Father and the King attempted to brainwash me to be mindlessly loyal to them, but it never really worked for them.” They say, taking a long pause. “The only thing that did somewhat work, was the whole ‘me being a weapon’ thing.” They explain,

Sans grits his teeth, angrily. “and how’d that pan out?” He asks.

Chara lets out a deep breath before continuing, “Well… one day, when I was fifteen, my mother and brother came back home wounded. One particular faction that had been causing the guard trouble for weeks, set a massive ambush for them…” They say, pulling out a cigarette from their pocket, and lighting it on the candle. “Something in me- snapped… that night I grabbed a kitchen knife, walked to the headquarters of the faction… and just. started. killing.”

“holy shit.” Sans replies, his glowing eye widening.

Chara looks down, smiling, and smoking for a moment. “At some point, it started to feel good… REALLY good… I don’t know if it was my LV, my psyche cracking, or both.” They say, looking up and making eye contact with Sans, their smile unwavering. “I only stopped killing when they stopped coming, when the place was entirely empty. Everyone either dead, or having ran away.”

Sans freezes, shocked, but ever so curious, “what happened next?” He asks.

“Well, to make a long story short, I basically became a super weapon for my family.” Chara says, “Asgore and the King were terrified, and once the truth about my experimentation came to light, Mother immediately divorced Father.” They add, going back to smoking.

“does your mother… actually love you?” Sans asks, “or just see you as a weapon?”

Chara takes a deep breath, looking down for a moment in silence. “She tries her best, but ends up just using me as a weapon anyway… she’s sent me to eliminate multiple other factions over the years.” they respond, perking up and resuming eye contact. “Asriel is different though, he actually sees me as a person, as a sibling. And for that reason, along with him saving me to begin with, I am eternally loyal, and obedient to him.” They finish off their sentence, picking up the dinner knife once more, and fiddling with it.

“well… that’s good at least.” Sans responds, “guessing the underground just sees you as their attack dog?” He asks, cocking his head, slightly.

“Pretty much.” Chara replies, “Though… I do kind of act like one a lot of the time, so it’s understandable.” They add, scratching the back of their head.

Sans chuckles slightly, “not really attempting to beat the allegations, are you?” He asks, jokingly.

Chara laughs once again, “not really,” they respond. “What about you? What did you deal with growing up?” They ask, genuinely curious.

Sans sighs, “there was a lot of shit… especially regarding my bastard of a father. shit i’d rather not talk about.” He begins, scratching the back of his skull, before perking up. “but i can tell you about some things involving the king.” He says.

“I’m all ears.” Chara replies.

Sans takes a deep breath, “well, to say the least. me and papyrus pissed him off, pretty fuckin bad. he cracked paps' skull and fucked me up enough to the point where my body can’t even contain its own magic,” he says, pointing to his eye, “ever wondered why this thing is always glowing? that’s the reason… same reason for why my jacket is so fluffy, and looks like it’s always falling apart. the energy radiating off me does that.”

Chara leans back, “Seems like everyone down here has been scarred by Asgore in some way.” They comment, “guess that includes me too.” They add, “Regardless, I’m sorry that happened to you.”

Sans' eye widens again, “yeah… it’s fine.”

The waiter walks over and drops off their food, and they start eating. Not much is said while they eat, asides from the occasional comment.

Chara takes their last bite, and pays the waiter, standing up and pushing in their chair. “This was really nice, Sans. I’m glad we did this.” They say.

“same here” Sans replies, standing up as well, “to be honest, i’ve never been on a date before.”

Chara smiles, “Me neither. But there a first time for everything, I suppose.” They respond.

The pair begin to walk out of the diner, Chara stopping at the fountain in the empty lobby, and turning to face Sans.

“what’s up?” Sans asks, looking up to meet their eyes.

Chara takes his hands in theirs, smiling. “Sans, I’m so glad we did this. Even though we’ve only known each other for a very short time, I really have feelings for you... you mean so much to me” They say, the blush growing on their face.

Sans smiles back, “chara, i’ll be honest, this is the first time i've ever felt this way for someone…” He begins, meeting their eyes, “yet, no matter what, I can’t stop thinking about you. being here, with you, I feel: confident, better, strong, like nothing can stop me. You’re… perfect.” He adds, his face almost entirely red.

Chara pauses, looking adoringly into his eyes. “Sans, I think I love you.” They say.

“heh, it’s funny. i was ‘bout to say the same thing.” He replies, trying to hide his excitement (and failing- miserably).

Chara tilts Sans' head back with their hand, and delivers a long, heartfelt kiss on his forehead.

They separate, taking a step back to look at each other.

“so it’s official then?” Sans asks.

Chara chuckles, “Official as can be,” they say. “Let’s head home, shall we?”

Sans takes their hand, “sounds like a plan, sweetheart.”

YANDERE STORYFELL CHARA AS A CHILDHOOD FRIEND:

~Cherry is a very gentle and soft-spoken person, that’s why she would probably seem like a little to no danger type of person. Well, let me tell you that you are completely wrong. Why? Because Cherry isn’t actually like that. She just shows that side to the people around you and her, but her actual self is very aggressive and angry all the time. She’s also very violent and she loves to threaten everyone.

~ “I swear to fucking hell, if that bitch looks at you again, I’ll gut them!”

~Cherry trusts you with everything, that’s why she tells you all of her secrets. She doesn’t mind you know how she wants to kill everyone, how she actually was the reason all their pets keep dying, yours included, and why your family members keep getting food poisoning. 

~ “Honestly, I fucking hate how they dared to ground you! Yeah, I poisoned them. Stole some of my uncle’s stuff. They shouldn’t die. Probably. Honestly, I don’t even know! Hey, if they die, how about you move in with me and my uncle?”

~Who’s her uncle? Well, it’s Bloodbath (Storyfell Papyrus). If she would go to him and tell him that she wants you to live with them, then without a second thought, the next morning you would wake up, chained up, in a room, you never been in, in a house that belonged to Cherry and her uncle.

~ “See? Now I don’t need to actually follow you around like a creep! This is much better. And stop screaming!! Or I’ll give you a reason to scream. Besides, my uncle hates loud people. He’s gonna hurt you if don’t keep quiet”

~She would probably feed you when you will start living with her and her uncle. She will also bathe you and in general take care of you, because otherwise, her uncle wouldn't let her keep you.

~ “Honestly, uncle’s annoying! You aren’t a pet, but oh well. As long as you are here, right?”
